aboutTheArtist
I started oil painting classes when I was 7 years old because my mom saw something special in my childhood art. I went on to study art in college, but my path wasn’t clear. I dropped out of art school, lost my mom shortly after that, and didn’t paint a single piece for decades. I pursued interior design in the retail space opening a brick-and-mortar store pre-Amazon. This path eventually led me to my first website design for my retail store as clients shifted to the convenience of online purchasing.
My focus on both interior and graphic design re-shaped my compositional skills. Fast forward to 2020 when my need to express myself through painting re-emerged, my abstract art is painted omnidirectional to offer more hanging options. I aspire to paint pieces with meaning you can experience, strong graphic elements that draw you in from afar, and white space that allows your mind to breathe.
Thank you in advance for supporting my art through your comments and/or purchases. My retail background recognizes how valuable your experience is! Mary Volkmann
