Creative Candles DIY: My Fav Sweater Candle
Where do I get my ideas for my creative candles? I look for patterns, texture, and colors in the things around me. Who doesn’t love a fuzzy sweater? In this creative candle DIY, I wondered if I could recreate my favorite sweater into my favorite hobby, a candle!
Getting the color of the candle wax just right was my biggest challenge. I’ve done a lot with colored wax, but the only 3 colors I had on hand were red, blue, and yellow. When I get an idea in my head, I don’t even have the patience for Amazon. In this video, I used just red, yellow, and blue to make my wax color.

My Fav Sweater Candle: a glam candle decor idea
You can buy sand pre-colored in a variety of shades, but getting the color of the candle wax to match the sweater seemed like a long shot.
To custom make a candle color, you need to know how color reacts to wax. I use a liquid dye to color my wax. Your color needs to be several shades darker when it is wet. I will melt a little wax in the microwave (gentle butter melt setting) so I can make a wax concentrate color. If I am making a 10 oz. candle, I will make 1 oz. in a colored wax concentrate. Once I get the color where I think it needs to be, I dab a little on my clean wax. This method will give you a better indication of the color of your cured wax.
Next,I added the rest of my wax (9.5 oz.) and my fragrance oil (1 oz.). I like the Warm Flannel Fragrance: which is a warm blend of bergamot, mahogany, and a delicate veil of musk if you are making your own creative sweater candle!
